LONDON, England: British Prime Minister Boris Johnson will face off with Amazon founder Jeff Bezos regarding his company's tax payments, the Financial Times reported on Sunday.

The agenda during Johnson's meeting with Bezos will largely focus on concerns surrounding international corporate tax rates for tech giants, the newspaper said, citing British officials.

The meeting will take place while Johnson is in New York for the opening of the UN General Assembly.

"You can expect the PM to raise this important issue. As you know, we have been an advocate for an international solution to the tax challenges posed by digitalization of the economy," the prime minister's spokesperson said of the meeting between Johnson and Bezos.

In July the world's leading economies agreed to force multinational companies to pay a global minimum corporate tax rate of at least 15 per cent.

The historic agreement was eventually signed by 130 countries.
